Two Options Available at the Westin:

Standard Rooms: These are $175/night for single- and double-occupancy plus tax (roughly $204/night total).
Deluxe Rooms: Due to our rapidly filling room block at the Westin on Michigan (our conference hotel) we have been able to work out an agreement with the good folks at the Westin to create some club level rooms. Westin Hotels typically do not have a club level but the Westin on Michigan has agreed to use some of our meeting space to create a place where those who are willing to pay extra can escape the noise of the meeting (rates are $224/244 single/double). These rooms are deluxe view rooms and will include access to the lounge, which will feature a continental breakfast from 6am-9am on Friday, Nov 7, Saturday, Nov 8 & Sunday, Nov 9. The lounge will be open from 6am to 6pm on each of these dates. If you already have a reservation, you should cancel your existing reservation (there is no penalty up to 24 hours prior to arrival) either by calling Central Reservations at (888) 627-8385 or online at https://www.starwoodhotels.com/westin/reservations/index.html. Once your existing reservation has been cancelled, you may book a new reservation for a club level room through Central Reservations or at https://www.starwoodmeeting.com/Book/hss14.

Overflow Hotel: Sofitel Chicago Water Tower Hotel (currently full)

20 E. Chestnut St. (about 2 blocks west of the Westin)

The rate for a single room is $199/night plus taxes. This rate is available until Monday, October 20, 2014.

New Overflow Hotel: The Whitehall Hotel

105 E. Delaware Place

The rate for the rooms is $249/night plus taxes, with a 3 night minimum. Book immediately, as few rooms remain.

To reserve a room at The Whitehall Hotel, you must call Michael Foster or his assistant, Scarlett, and reserve the room directly with one of them. Mention that you are part of the Philosophy of Science Association and History of Science Association meeting.

Graduate Rooms are now full, and there is a long wait list. HSS is still collecting names for the wait list, but it is extremely unlikely that anyone added at this point will get a room at the graduate student rate.

There will also be a block of rooms reserved for graduate students at a reduced rate of $150 plus tax. All graduate student rooms will be booked through the HSS Executive Office, NOT the hotel. The grad student rooms will be available to HSS and PSA student members only through August 15. After that date, any remaining rooms can be reserved by any students. Students interested in a grad student room should email their request to info@hssonline.org. Only graduate students are eligible, and the rooms can only be reserved by student members of HSS or PSA through August 15. Requests should include check-in and check-out dates, along with the names of anybody else sharing the room (these can be added later, too).
