You are invited to participate in a survey on episodes in the history of science. This study is conducted by Jonathan Waskan, Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign.

This study will take approximately 10 minutes of your time. You will be asked to answer questions concerning episodes from the history of science. You will also be asked to supply some basic demographic information (e.g., level of training in the sciences).
All participants must be at least 18 years of age. Your decision to participate or decline participation in this study is completely voluntary, and you have the right to terminate your participation at any time without penalty. If you want do not wish to complete this survey just close your browser.

Your participation is completely voluntary. At the end of the study, you will receive an explanation of the survey.
No information will be requested or utilized that might disclose your identity. No attempt will be made to connect your responses to identifying information that may be found on the Internet or elsewhere. Your participation in this research will be completely confidential and data will be averaged and reported in aggregate. Possible outlets of dissemination may include scholarly conferences and/or published books, journals, or popular media. Although your participation in this research may not benefit you personally, it will help us understand how scientists and non-scientists conceive of science and scientific activities. There are no risks to individuals participating in this survey beyond those that exist in daily life.
